Obituary for Barbara Ann Ream

Barbara Ann Ream, 74, of West Burlington passed peacefully in her sleep at 6:50 pm on December 19th, 2023 at her home. 

Barbara was born on August 21st, 1949 to Samuel and Clara (Richardson) Wykert in Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Wapello and afterward was employed for many years there in food service. Barbara went on to work for the Winegard Company, Pzazz, Country Café, the Luau Room, and for events in the Memorial Auditorium. She was a dietary supervisor at Burlington Care Center, in addition to operating the food service for Southeastern Community College, where she also worked in maintenance. Barbara also worked for U.S. Cellular as a greeter and cashier. 

From 1967 to 1998, Barbara was married to Keith Brockway. On October 6th, 2007, Barbara and Perry Ream were married in Burlington, Iowa. Barbara was a member of Spring Grove United Methodist Church, the Moose, and Ladies’ Auxiliary at Spring Grove.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Sharon Hembree of Largo, IN. Left to cherish her memory, her loving husband Perry; her children Traci (Bryan) McCleary and Kerri (Michael) Horton of Wapello, IA, Seth Ream of Denver, CO, and Zach Ream of Burlington, IA; her grandchildren Drake (Kaitlyn) McCleary, Nicholas McCleary, and Taten Kronfeldt of Wapello, IA; her great-grandchildren Crew and Everly McCleary of Wapello, IA; and her siblings, Gary Richardson of Altoona, IA, Tom Wykert of Wapello, IA, and Faye Richardson of Farmersville Station, NY. 

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the memorial fund established at Spring Grove United Methodist Church in Burlington.
