Sharon Kae Faulkender

Sharon Kae Faulkender, the daughter of Charles and Goldie Wilson, was born November 25, 1941, in Everly, Iowa.  Sharon was the youngest of five children.   The family later moved to Excelsior Township where she attended grade school.  In 1956 they moved to Harris-Lake Park where Sharon graduated high school in 1960. She went on to attend Omaha Business college for the next year.  Sharon moved back to Spencer and was an Administrative Assistant for Bell Telephone.

On February 14th, 1965, Sharon married Robert Faulkender at The Little Brown Church in Nashau, Iowa.   Following their marriage, they made their home in Spencer where she worked at Spencer National Bank, and later at Northwest Federal Savings and Loan.  In 1985 she attended Iowa Lakes Community College for their Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling program.  In 1986 she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree as an Alcohol and Drug counselor where she later worked as a counselor for Northwest Drug and Alcohol in Spencer.  In the late nineties she worked at Hope Reformed church as their custodian until she retired.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, crafting and gardening.  She and her husband Robert enjoyed traveling to see their kids and grandkids.  They always loved planting their garden together, bird watching, woodworking and crafts.  Sharon was also a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary for many years.

Sharon passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, at Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer at the age of 81.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Goldie Wilson, her brothers Duane, Larry and her sister Patricia and her infant son Kevin.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Faulkender, her children: Kathy Skyles and husband Darin of Indianapolis, Indiana; Kristal Jensen and husband Mark of Spencer; three grandchildren: Adam and Logan Skyles and Samuel Jensen; her brother Roger Wilson of Lincoln, NE and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Langdon, Iowa. A private graveside service is being planned for a future date.
