Scott James Swisher
Scott James Swisher, 60, passed away August 4, 2023 at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital. A private family gathering will be held at Hansel Cemetery in Garber, Iowa on August 19th at 11 a.m.
Scott was born on February 26, 1963 in Elkader, Iowa to Gerald “Fuzzy” and Anita (Ball) Swisher.
Scott resided in Garber, Iowa. He attended Central Community School. After school, he began working dismantling railroad bridges, welding and various logging jobs. Scott had two children, Nathan and Sarah.
Scott enjoyed being outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and trapper. He also enjoyed playing pool as well as a good card game. In his later years, he enjoyed building bird houses, doing word puzzles and watching old western shows.
Scott is survived by his mother Anita of Garber, his son Nathan of Edgewood, his daughter Sarah of Ankeny, and partner of 17 years, Brenda Friedley, an aunt and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Fuzzy, and brother, Bruce.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elkport-Garber EMS.
The family would like to thank the generous nursing staff of Guttenberg Municipal Hospital, as well as the generous hospice staff of St. Croix Hospice.
