Penny Sue Haley

Penny Sue (Carter) Haley, Age 69, of Keswick and formerly of Ollie, died August 29, 2023, of complications from cancer and congestive heart disease.

Penny was born on February 25, 1954, in Sigourney, IA, the daughter of Barbara Jean (Phillips) Carter and the late Lawrence (Wimpy) Carter. She was raised north of Ollie and attended Ollie and Pekin schools.

She was united in marriage to William Haley, the love of her life, on April 14, 2002.

Penny’s enjoyments included gardening, canning, writing poetry, spending time with her children and grandchildren and travelling with her husband. She enjoyed working with the elderly and doing Hospice work. She had a great love for little children and devoted much of her life caring from them.

She was a beautiful, giving person, who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Penny’s memory is honored by her husband, Bill, her daughters, Amy (Jim) Fager, of Chillicothe, IL, Angie (David Esch) Staff, of Houston, TX, Sarah (Russell) Love, of Dubuque, IA, and a son, Jason Ryan Kiene, of Dubuque, IA; her mother, Barbara Trenk of Sigourney, IA, a brother, James (Twila) Carter of Sigourney, IA; a brother-in-law, David Walker of Callao, MO; seven grandchildren, Rachel, Andrea, Alyvia Fager, Makayla Heinze, Brennan, Brynnlee, and Gunner Love; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Jerimy Fankhauser, her father, Lawrence (Wimpy) Carter, a sister, Bonnie Pearl Walker, and two infant nephews, Wade Leon Carter and Clint Edward Walker. 

Memorials may be sent to the family (William Haley, 19288 Hwy. 22, Keswick, IA, 50136) and or essence of Life Hospice of Keokuk County.
