Mark Newton Davis
Mark Newton Davis, 57, passed away August 16, 2023, at his Hiawatha home, surrounded by loved ones. Mark was born January 15, 1966, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Ross and Mary Jean Davis. Mark spent his formative years in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Kennedy Highschool in 1984 and later from Mount Mercy College in 1989. A true Midwesterner at heart, he lived most of his life in Iowa where he helped raise his children C.J. and Nick., and where he later met and married his wife Suzanne (Cole) of Waterloo, on September 22, 2019.
He was young when he discovered his love for the game of golf. He was able to turn that passion into an over twenty-year career within the industry, as a member of the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA). His commitment to his work extended beyond the course, most recently serving as the Midwest Regional Sales Manager for Sebright Products Inc.
An avid sports enthusiast, Mark was a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins and Iowa Hawkeyes. He could often be found listening to sports talk radio or watching ESPN. His fondest memories were comprised of times spent with family and friends, especially while on beach trips to Mexico, the Bristol races, and while tailgating for Hawkeye football games.
Mark will fondly be remembered for his devotion to his family, affable nature, sense of humor, dedication to work, and love for golf. Although his passing was premature, his family will cling to the many cherished memories created during his lifetime, keeping him forever in their hearts.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife Suzanne Davis, father Ross Davis, children C.J. and Nick Davis, sister Diane Johnson (Brian), their children Spencer (Carly), Keagan, and Baylor (Erica) Johnson, and a community of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Jean Davis, and son Cameron Davis.
To commemorate Mark’s life, a visitation will be held from 4-7 pm on Monday, August 21st at Ellis Golf Course Event Center, (1401 Zika Ave NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405) with funeral service and luncheon to follow at 11 am on Tuesday, August 22nd at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, (1350 Lyndhurst Dr, Hiawatha, IA 52233).
