Glendora “Dee” Lee (Shaffer) Coffin passed away following a short illness on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, IA.

Dee was born in Arlington, IA on December 23, 1936, to Irvin and Elaine Shaffer. She married Alan Coffin of Strawberry Point, IA in 1955. Survivors include children: Brad (Susan) Coffin of Solon, IA, Becky Baker of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Bev Coffin of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Andrea (Nate) Coffin, Jennifer (Steve) Brink, Brian (Kasandra) Coffin, Nick (Kendall) Baker, Ericka (Max) Ramsey, and 11 great grandchildren. Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Alan, and her son, Brian.

Dee was a nurse at Mercy Medical Center for many years and retired in 1995. She belonged to the Red Hat Society and volunteered as a foster grandparent with Children of Promise. Dee was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan. Dee even got to meet Kirby Puckett, her favorite player. She also loved her Iowa Hawkeyes!

A private family service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank Ridgeview Assisted Living, the ICU of Mercy Medical Center, and the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy for taking such good care of our mom and grandma. Also, we offer a special thank you to Dee’s good friend, LuAnn.

Donations may be made to the family in Dee’s honor.
