Butch graduated from Washington High School where he participated on the football team for a short time before his mother decided it was interfering with his grades and pulled him off the team.  He also attended Coe College for 1 year.  He was employed at FedEx-Cedar Rapids for 31 years.

He is survived by his daughter, Naomi, who he loved dearly; his mother and stepfather, Beatrice and Will Jackson; a loving and supportive sister, Stephanie; nephew and nieces William, Shekinah, & Faith; a great niece, Nadia; uncles, aunts and many cousins and friends.

Butch accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age and participated in the Youth Choir at Bethel AME Church after the family moved to Cedar Rapids from Massachusetts in 1979.  In later years he served as a young deacon at Gospel Tabernacle Church and as an adult, served as a deacon at Lifeline Ministries.  In his Children’s Living Bible that was given to him by his mother one Christmas, under the heading “My Important events,” he wrote “Very first is Loving God.”

A kind, respectful, loving, and gentle man – He will be missed by all who knew him.
