Craig DeWayne Fenton

Craig DeWayne Fenton, 82 of Ft. Madison passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at the Iowa City VA Health Care System of a short illness.

 He was born in Sedan, IA to Russell and Francis Fenton on May 7, 1941.  He joined the Marine Corps on July 4, 1958, and served his country faithfully.  Craig married Josefina Dela Peña on August 27, 2004, in Ft. Madison.

Craig worked throughout his life as a farmer and excavation contractor in Colorado, as well as a construction engineer on freeway projects in California.  He was very proud of the projects that he was involved in and retired in 2003 to return to Iowa.  He enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing, watching western movies, and spending time with his wife and loving family.

Craig leaves behind his wife, Josefina, a son, Buddy Fenton, a daughter, Carrie Fenton-Kimm , a daughter Aileen Fenton-Frazier all of Cedar Rapids, IA, a son, Mitchell Fenton of Pueblo, CO, a daughter, Jodi Fenton Burkart Young, a daughter Tara Fenton both of Amherst, TX along with 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Craig is preceded in death by his parents, sister Connie Fenton Tischer, brother Michael Dean Fenton and Uncle Richard Fenton. 

His deep belly laugh, contagious smile and ornery disposition will be greatly missed.
