Barbara Bush Fisher

Barbara Bush Fisher passed away on August 20,2023, she was 97 years old.

Barbara was born on December 11, 1925 to William H and Merna I Baker in Creston Iowa.  She graduated from Creston High School in 1943 and started her working career with the C, B & Q Railroad in Omaha, Nebraska.  She returned to Creston and worked as a bookkeeper.

She married Lyle D Bush on June 18, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They made their home in Creston, Iowa and raised two children, Tina and Craig.  Lyle passed away in 1987 and she later married Dr. William Fisher and made their home in Harlingen, Texas for 23 years.  After Bill’s death in 2014 she moved back to Iowa and lived in Urbandale.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Tina Yeager (John), her granddaughter, Stacey Nielsen (Andy Roeth), her great granddaughters, Monica Woofter (Michael) and Jenna Nielsen (Mitchell Crank), all of Des Moines, Iowa.

She is also survived by 4 stepchildren:  Andrea Fisher Maril, PhD. Of Santa Fe, New Mexico, (her three children, Travis (Christina) Maril, Loren (Lionel) Flores and Jordan (William) Kessler.  Son, Michael Fisher, J.D. (Carmen) and their daughter Camille, of Brownsville, Texas.  Son, Charles Fisher M.D. (Elsie) and their sons Thomas and Mark, of Harlingen, Texas.  Son Steven Fisher, J.D. (Monica) and their children Matthew and Olivia, of Houston, TX, and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Craig Bush, husbands Lyle Bush and Bill Fisher, her parents William and Merna Baker, and her sister Patricia Ann (Baker) Wilson.
