Marolyn Bogert

Marolyn Bogert, 87, went peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, April 27, 2023, after several years battling Alzheimer's Disease. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, July 14, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service 2:00 p.m., at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories.  Inurnment will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marolyn Leona Gabrielson was born to Ray and Alice (Eck) Gabrielson in Dayton, Iowa on February 24, 1936 with her twin sister Carolyn. She grew up with her three sisters learning the solid work ethics of her parents while enjoying the fun of family on their Iowa farm.

Marolyn graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Elementary Education and began her longtime career in teaching. She had met Harold Bogert while in college and they were married July 2, 1961. She enjoyed several years at home raising their children Jon Harold, William (Bill) Walter, and Brenda Sue. After she went back to work, most of her career was spent teaching Title One/remedial reading in the Cedar Rapids area. Marolyn's husband Harold died in 1993 after 32 wonderful years of marriage.

Marolyn had an absolute and complete faith in God. She was very active in the many ministries and activities in her church. She was a gentle soul and a good and faithful servant of Jesus.
Marolyn had a lifelong love of horses, chocolate, and ice cream! Her favorite activities were traveling with her sisters and spending time with her family--especially her grandchildren!

Marolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her twin sister Carolyn, and her parents. Surviving Marolyn are two special sisters, Sally Mathis and Sue Magee, her sister-in-law Frances Bogert; her much-loved children, Jon (Kathy) Bogert, Bill (Kathy) Bogert, and Brenda (Paul) Drezen; her beloved grandchildren Jensen, Kevin, Melanie, Logan, Michael (Madeline), David, Anna, Ellie (Nick), Becca (Miles), Ben, and Katie; and her great grandchildren Micah and Brenna (with 3 more expected this year).

Any gifts given in Marolyn's memory may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your own choosing.
