Kenneth H. Wright, 80, of Cedar Rapids, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 21, 2023 after a short battle with cancer. A celebration of Ken’s life and 62nd wedding anniversary will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, 4:00-8:00pm, at 716 43rd St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
Ken was born on August 26, 1942 in Cedar Rapids, to Harold and Mae (Carlson) Wright. He was united in marriage to Sharon Kisling on May 26, 1962. He worked for James W. Bell for several years. He then started a mining supply company, and later started Central Security where he worked until his retirement. Following his early retirement, he and Sharon enjoyed wintering in Florida.
Ken was sober from alcohol for 49 years and was actively involved in Alcoholics Anonymous throughout the years. He enjoyed karaoke and spending his free time on the computer or tablet.
Left to cherish Ken’s memory is his wife of 61 years, Sharon Wright; daughter, Peggy Zeadow; son, Bill Wright; grandchildren, Kelsey and Brandon Zeadow, and Adam and Keegan Wright; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda (Steve) Jenkins; and sister-in-law, Kris Wright.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Wright; and great-grandson, Zane Wright.
Donations may be directed to the family for a memorial bench at Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids.
