Thomas S. Agan

Thomas S. Agan, 60, of Vail, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 6.

Tom was born on April 8, 1962, in Des Moines to Earl Sr, and Myrna (Newbury) Agan. Tom attended school at Park Avenue, Kurtz and Lincoln, graduating in 1980.

Tom worked for C&C Produce, Monarch Foods, Farner-Bocken, Braunger Foods and Liberty Foods.

Tom met the love of his life at Monarch Foods in 1990. They were married in 1992 and were parents to two sons, Travis and Hunter.

He loved coaching his boys in all sports, especially the Ar-We-Va Broncos flag football. He loved fishing and hunting pheasant and raising dogs. Tom enjoyed helping his boys with 4-H projects and in Boy Scouts.

Tom loved living on the acreage, not knowing a thing about the farm life, but he married the farm girl.

Tom is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra, of Vail; his sons, Travis (Kyaria) of Des Moines; Hunter (Jess) of Palo, Iowa; his little ray of sunshine, granddaughter Raye; and bonus grandchildren Kayson and Aria. He is also survived by brother, Earl (Paula) of Des Moines and sister, Barbara (Rob) Timmins of Altoona. Brother in law Norman (Margo) Jacobs of Grand Lake Colorado and sister in law Shari (Jeff) Fox of Oskaloosa. Parents in law, Max and Arlene Jacobs of New Sharon. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many wonderful friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Shelby Agan; and grandparents Tom and Leah Newbury and Shelby and Pearl Agan.

Tom was an organ donor and was able to help many lives with his donation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, 3120 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, on Saturday, October 8 from 1-4 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in honor of Tom.
