Richard (Buddy) Lee Williams, 76, cruised into Heaven's pearly gates on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He was born in Boone, IA on June 25, 1946, to Henry Hank Williams and Margaret Irene (McAllister) Godwin.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. at the Boone Moose Lodge, 812 8th Street, Boone, IA 50036 with a luncheon to follow. No graveside services are planned.
Buddy worked various union construction jobs from 1965 until his retirement in 2008. His most rewarding job was the reconstruction of the tallest double-track railroad bridge in America, also known as the Kate Shelley High Bridge, in Boone, IA. He loved to tell the stories of working on the bridge and show the pictures he had in a special book he kept close by.
Buddy enjoyed fixing up old cars, driving around town and collecting discarded bicycles and then teaching his grandsons how to fix them up to sell or give away, swimming in the pool with them and friends, sitting out in the driveway visiting with friends and family, watching old Westerns, NASCAR and Iowa State games, fishing, hunting and camping in his earlier years. He will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Linda (Beadle), of almost 57 years; daughter Tonya in Ankeny, IA; son Richard (Chopper) and wife Angie in Concord, GA; and daughter Stacie (Rob) Gonzales in Boone, IA. Grandchildren: Kayden Hinderks and Klaytin Williams in Ankeny, IA; Taylor (Jacob) Biang, Morgan (Josh) Perkins, Dalton Williams in Concord, GA; Taria (Matthew) Marchesano in Boone, IA; Jeremy Thompson in Fort Dodge, IA; Kristina Campbell in Ames, IA and great grandchildren Adleigh and Blakelyn Perkins in Concord, GA, and Jacob and Connor Kline and Aleenah Marchesano in Boone, IA. He is also survived by his sisters Gloria (Bruce) Wilson and Glenda (Denny) Elston in Clarion, IA; sisters-in-law Silvia Donham in Ardmore, OK and Tula (Gene) Adams in Chariton, IA along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Irene (McAllister) Godwin; his father, Henry Hank Williams; his father-in-law, John Beadle; mother-in-law, Beulah Beadle; and brothers-in-law Wayne Beadle, Ronnie Beadle and Mort Beadle.
