John M. Pirillo

John M. Pirillo, 94, died on Saturday, October 8th, 2022, at Taylor House Hospice.

John was born on March 27th, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from East High School and at age 20 joined the United States Air Force serving from 1948 to 1952.  He joined the Air Force not only to serve his country, but to also escort his brother Tony home after he was killed in World War II.  After being honorably discharged, he married Carmella Papiani. (Died July 15,1988) They had 3 children and were married for 36 years.

John worked for Iowa Power and Light Company for 33 years.  Retiring early, he had many hobbies.  A few of his favorites were going to dances...and Wow, did he know how to dance!  He also enjoyed computers, ham radio operating, photography, and going to garage sales. Lots of garage sales! During his illness he kept his sense of humor throughout!  Singing to the nurses and staff and was very thankful for the hard work and care he received while in the hospital.

He leaves to cherish his great sense of humor his children, Nancy, Tony, and Joann.  A sister Clara Formaro.  7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Last but not least his furry companion, Ranger.

So, everyone please give John one last Hi John!! You will be greatly missed!!!

A private celebration will be held at a later date.
