Alfred "Rodeo" D. Procopio
Alfred D. Procopio, better known to all as “Rodeo”, 66 of Stanwood, Iowa passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022, at the home of his son, surrounded by his family members.
Rodeo was born in Abilene, Texas to Alfred A. Procopio and Nelda Mae (Reeves) Procopio on October 15, 1956. Rodeo was in a military family and he called several different places home while growing up; including different countries. His favorite place was Okinawa, Japan where he lived for 9 years before moving to Frankfurt, Germany where he graduated from Frankfurt High School in 1976. Through life he worked in many different fields working himself up to a successful pipefitter & welder, who again traveled in the industry, taking his family along.
Rodeo was hands on with everything. He loved riding motorcycles and passed that onto his children. He loved working & rebuilding them, especially with his son. Harley Davidson was always his favorite. He loved when the neighborhood kids came over to have their chains, tires, or whatever else needed to be fixed on their bicycles.
Rodeo loved tinkering with his hands and throwing himself into ideas and designs of several interests from grapes to wood and metal arts. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his kids at his side. When it came to deer hunting, he was all in, no matter how cold he became he never gave up.
Rodeo married Teresa Martinez on May 28, 1978 in Fort Worth, Texas and they renewed their vows in May 2009 with their children by their side. He is survived by his wife Teresa, Children DeLona (Jeff) Carlson, Christopher (Katie) Procopio, Shawn (Kali) Schwabe, and Gracy Procopio, as well as 5 grandchildren Wyatt, Oliver, Claire, Ava, & Lexi.
Also mourning his loss are his sisters Brenda Smith of Texas, Dannette Murr of Oklahoma, brother, Marc Procopio Jr., and many nieces and nephews. Rodeo was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister.
There will be a celebration of life at Christopher’s house (1469 Highway 1, Lisbon) on Sunday Nov 6th between 1 and 4pm.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Christopher & Katie for opening their home and especially loving caregivers in his last few weeks. Also, a special thanks to Essence of Life Hospice for their loving and undivided attention to Rodeo as well as the 3rd floor inpt unit at St. Lukes.
Condolences can be sent to the Procopio Family at:
