Marvin Curtis Doty

Marvin Curtis Doty, 86, passed away November 3, 2022, at the Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg, IA. A celebration of life gathering to share memories will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 1:00pm– 4:00pm at the Stone Creek Golf Club in Williamsburg IA.

He was born to Lindsey “Fred” Doty and Melva Mae (Fuller) Doty in 1936 in Genoa Bluffs, Iowa County. He married Rebecca Jean Perrin on July 12, 1957. The couple spent two years in Washington state where Marvin served his country in the United State Army. They moved back to Iowa where they raised their three children Scott, Mike and Barb.

After his military service, Marvin returned to work at Amana Refrigeration until 1970 when he joined the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy. He retired in 1991 and made many friends and touched many lives in his twenty-one years there. In his retirement he worked part time at Lake Iowa, enjoyed woodworking and traveling to visit family and friends.

Marvin is survived by his wife Rebecca of 65 years, children Paul “Scott” Doty (Amy York) of Ladora IA, Michael Doty of Marshall TX, & Barbara Grimm (David) of Ely IA; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and his siblings Harlan Doty & Margaret Sanders (Doyle).

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice (Amana) or St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Marvin’s family would like to thank the Highland Ridge Care Center & Essence of Life Hospice staff for the loving care they provided to him.
