Joe Ledezma Niaves Jr.

Joe Ledezma Niaves Jr. born August 17, 1946 of Muscatine Iowa, passed away March 17th 2022. Survivors include his daughters, Gerianne Reichert (Mitch) Paula Niaves, and Julie Niaves all of Muscatine. 9 Grandchildren; Cheyanne, Anjel, Shayna, Jena, Nasien, Manuel, Austin, Aura and Jacey. And 9 great grandchildren. Brother to Henry Niaves (Linda) of Brady Texas, Maria S Niaves  and significant other Bill Caparoon of San Tan Valley Arizona, Ema Niaves of Muscatine Iowa and lots of family in Texas and in Muscatine.

Joe and his family came to Muscatine Iowa from Brady Texas for work in 1966 and they succeeded very well. He served in the Army in 1969. He retired from Bandag Retread in 1992 after 30 years. He was very involved with Alcoholics Anonymous with 31 years of sobriety. He helped a lot of people maintain their own sobriety as a sponsor and a friend.

He married Ruth Ann Wade in 1972. They later divorced in 1985 but remained friends.

Joe loved his daughters very much but he would tell you that he loved his grandchildren more. He made a lot of great memories with all of his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father Joe Niaves Sr. His mother Nicanora Niaves and his brother David Niaves.

A private family ceremony will be held due to Joe’s wishes. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
