Edward R. Wittig

Edward R. Wittig, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

He was born on October 31, 1930, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Reinhold and Gertrude (Steinstrom) Wittig.  Ed married the love of his life, Elsie Marie (Weisert) Wittig on June 3, 1956, in Mount Auburn, Iowa.

He is survived by his Son, Eric P. Wittig of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and grandaughter Megan
Brown of Toledo, Iowa.

Ed was very active in the Korean War Association, very talented in Wood Working and Gardening (Master Gardener).  He was active in Golf and Bowling.  He was a fan of Hawkeye Football and Basketball.  He was a devout Lutheran in Faith and devoted to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church since 1956.

He was employed by Iowa Manufacturing Company as Service Manager and retired after 35 years.

He was a Korean War Veteran in the United States Air Force.  He was awarded many medals including the Air Medal.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Christel Cooper and Rose Marie Brady.

Ed and his wife (Elsie) will be inturned at Cedar Memorial.  Date, time and place to be determined at a later date.  For more information contact Eric Wittig.

The family would like to thank the staff of Garnett Place for their care of Ed.
