Obituary for Nella Mae Cutting

Nella Mae (Peyton) Cutting, 86, of Perry, Iowa, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2022, at Kings Garden Campus in Perry, Iowa.

Nella was born on March 8, 1936, in Morgan County, Kentucky, to Dillard C. and Myrtle Peyton. Nella graduated from Fairborn High School in Fairborn, Ohio.  On July 24, 1956, she married Stanley John Cutting in Fairborn, Ohio. Together they raised two children: Michael Cutting and Theresa (Cutting) Sheeder.

Nella lived in Fairborn, Ohio, until 1965, after which she moved to Upper Marlboro, Maryland, where she lived until 1968 when they moved to Atlanta, Georgia. In 1979, they moved to McLean, Virginia, until they retired and moved to Iowa for 2 years before moving back to Xenia, Ohio. Nella remained in Ohio until 2017, when she moved to Urbandale, Iowa, then Perry, Iowa, in 2020, where she resided until her passing.

Nella loved Jesus, her family, friends, and socialized whenever possible. There was rarely a time when she did not have a smile on her face or kindness in her words, and she seldom complained about anything, even sorrow or pain. Nella loved shoes, jewelry, and purses.  She enjoyed working in the garden, especially floral gardens, while watching for hummingbirds and butterflies. She found it hard to pass up a garage sale and/or auction, and frequented state/local fairs and flea markets whenever possible. She had a keen knowledge and love of antiques. Never one to shy away from hard work, Nella always helped whenever there was a need. She relished trying new things, whether it be a game or fun adventure. Her most treasured times, however, were those spent with her family and friends. They were her most cherished and favorite of memories. She will be sorely missed, but fondly remembered as a most kind and gentle woman with whom you were blessed and thankful to know.

Nella is survived by her daughter, Theresa (Cutting) Sheeder of Clive, IA; brother, Manual (Phyllis) Payton of Chillicothe, OH; daughter-in-law, Nancy (Hannigan) Cutting of Oakland, TN; 7 grandchildren, Jamie (Dan) McGuire; Candice Cutting-Snowden; Justin (Lindsey) Sheeder; Tara (Jeremy) Christiansen; Natalie Cutting; Mike Cutting, Jr., and Heath (Jessica) Sheeder; 13 great grandchildren, Joey Cutting; Brynley McGuire; Kiersten Sheeder; Sabrina Tindall; Kinzie Snowden; Harper Christiansen; Claira Sheeder; Reed Sheeder; Carver Christiansen; Dakota Johnson; Finley Sheeder; Asher Christiansen; and Walker Sheeder; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley; son Michael Cutting; parents Dillard C and Myrtle Peyton; son-in-law Danny Sheeder; sisters-in-law, Joyce Payton; Phyllis Duckett; Beverly Wood; and brother-in-law Roger Cutting.
