David Paul Mains

David Paul Mains, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday June 24, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday June 30, 2022, at First Open Bible, 1911 E Avenue N.W., Cedar Rapids, where a visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Iowa Cremation is in charge of the arrangements. 

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sharon, his children; David Paul Mains Jr., Sherry (Chad) Kunce, Fred (Becky) Mains and Jayson Mains all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his siblings; Pamela Slaton of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Paul (Vicki) Mains of Lodi, California and Stephen (Beverly) Mains of Cedar Rapids, his grandchildren; Matthew Mains, Michelle Mains, Madison (Colton) Simmers, Timothy Kunce, his great-grandchildren; Kaylee Simmers and Layton Simmers.    

He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law and a brother-in-law.

David was born October 5, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Paul and Lois (Frost) Mains. He married the love of his life on October 4, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  David was a 1965 graduate of Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids. David was a member of First Open Bible and the Marine Corp League and served in the Marine Corp during the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed going camping, playing a variety of instruments, playing in the band for nursing homes and refinishing furniture. He also enjoyed going to Tommy’s on Thursday with friends.  Please leave a message for the family on iowacremation.com
