Mary Kathryn (Johnson) Lendt age 62 passed away on February 9th, 2022, at Mary Greeley Hospital.

Mary was born on May 27, 1959, in Jefferson Iowa to Verne Henry Johnson and Mary Lou (Weaver) Johnson.

Mary grew up in Coon Rapids IA, she graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1978. Mary attended AIB in Des Moines graduating in 1980. After graduation she moved to Boone, IA where she worked at the Boone County Courthouse, later working as the Deputy Auditor. After 36 years Mary retired in February 2017.

Mary met Kenny Allen Lendt in July of 1982. Kenny & Mary were married on June 3rd, 1983. They raised two children Kerry Lynn (Johnson) Mwangi and Christopher Allen Lendt.

In Oct 2003, Kenny and Mary moved to an acreage north of Ogden IA. They enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening, canning, camping, reading, baking, and traveling. In 2015 they ventured into beekeeping.

Mary is survived by her husband Kenny of 38 years, her mother Mary Lou (Weaver) Johnson of Coon Rapids, IA and her brothers William Verne Johnson of Coon Rapids, Mark Daniel Johnson of Rowlett Texas & Michael Scott Johnson (Meralee Belcher) of Wylie, TX., daughter Kerry Mwangi of Des Moines, grandchildren Isaak Ajanee, Ethan Mwangi, Maxwell Mwangi. Son Christopher Lendt (Lindy Parks) grandchildren Aiden Smith & Griffin Lendt and many other family members, dear friends and her dogs, Ricky & Shooter.

Mary was preceded by her father Verne Johnson.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held Saturday, June 18 at the Don Williams Ronald Good Shelter.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to American Cancer Associations or St Jude Hospital.
