Marjorie Ann Hemm

Marjorie Ann Hemm went to be with her Lord February 16th, 2022, at 5:44am on her birthday. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving children and grandchildren. Memorial services will be later this spring.

Marjorie was born in New London, IA and raised on a farm in Lowell, IA to a large family. She met her husband, Edward Hemm, in Lowell. They were married for 62 years prior to his death in 2018. They travelled extensively throughout the United States in their marriage and lived in both Iowa and California. 

Margie’s legacy was her family. Together, she and Ed had nine children, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her memory and strong character will live on through each of them. 

She enjoyed many hobbies like jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, traveling, camping, caring for her Siamese cats, baking, and trying new adventures in her later years like yoga. 

She is survived by her son David Hemm (Annette), daughter Kathy Jones (Dennis), daughter Donna Taylor (Marvin), daughter Carla Christner, son Mike Hemm (Sandra), son Mark Hemm (Julie), and daughter Becky Yoder (Russ).

She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Hemm, her son Dennis Hemm, her daughter Carol Culp, her sister Retha Shearer, sister Rosie Kamp, sister Edie Reed, sister-in-law Janet Zachmeyer, sister Doris Caldwell, brother Johnny Zachmeyer, brother Thomas “Shortie” Zachmeyer, and son-in-law Bobby Christner.

In lieu of flowers, can be sent to Eldon Assembly of God Church.
