Donna Nevenhoven

Donna “Sis” Nevenhoven, 84, of Aplington, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022, at home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Donna was born April 1, 1937 to Jake and Sadie (Janssen) Nevenhoven in rural Ackley, Ia. She attended country school, Etna #5 until the 8th grade. The family then moved to a farm place west of Aplington. She then attended and graduated from Aplington High School in 1955.

After school, she went to work for Edwin Lindaman at the Aplington Produce and later it became Aplington Hardware. Her brother Ron then bought the store from Lindaman and Donna ran the store. Later Ron opened a hardware store in Ackley and Donna worked there until she retired.

Donna loved to golf and played in many golf tournaments. She could be seen at the Aplington golf course every day with her dog, Lucky, were she got a round in and the dog got his daily run. Donna loved her many dogs over the years.

Donna is survived by her brothers, Merle (Cheryl) Nevenhoven of Florida and Ron Nevenhoven of Arizona, sister Pat Kole of Aplington, nephews Eric, John (Melissa) and Garrett Nevenhoven, Dave Manning, Alan (Katie) Kole and niece Melissa (Duane) Kole-Gummert.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in-law Jake Kole, sister in-law Jan Nevenhoven, a nephew Scott Nevenhoven and niece Tamra Manning.
