Bennie Warren

Bennie Warren, 83, of Evansdale, slipped peacefully from this world on December 18, 2022, while surrounded by loved ones. He was born July 17, 1939, in Michigan, to Nathanael and Marian Warren Campeau. Bennie was married to Judy Berns on April 22, 1972.

Bennie graduated from Bendle High School in Flint, Michigan in 1957.

Bennie was employed with John Deere as an inspector and was a member of the Navy Reserves, serving as a mechanic with the Navy Seabees. He retired from both the Naval Reserves and from John Deere to be able to spend more time with family.

Bennie loved to spend time with his grandchildren, showing them how to do all the things he loved. He was a great tinkerer and fixer of things. Bennie loved old cars. It didn’t matter how ugly or impractical they might be, he just kept buying them so he could fix them up. Although he hated fishing, he loved his wife so much that he would go out in the middle of the night to hunt night crawlers, then get up at 5 am to go fishing.

Bennie loved taking care of others and toughed a lot of lives in his 83 years, becoming a second dad or grandfather to many.

Survivors include: a daughter, Kamille (Jon) Martin of Evansdale; a son, Kenny Warren of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Nikki (Dennis) Kratzer, Korine Warren, Jonathan (Tessa) Martin, and Alyssa Martin; 10 great-grandchildren, Chloe Warren, Ayden Warren, Thane Martin, Kaiden Martin, Jack Douglas, Madeline Douglas, Lucas Douglas, Gunner Kratzer, Zachary Kratzer, Jason Kratzer; one sister, Madeleine Ackerman; two brothers, Nathanael (Glenda) Warren and Terry Compeau.

Bennie is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Kevin Warren; one brother, Norris Warren; and two sisters, Melody Castle and Ida Mae Turner.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Amvets, Post 31, 706 Colleen Ave., Evansdale, IA 50707 on Tuesday, December 27 from 5pm to 7pm. Interment of his ashes will be held at a later date.
