Devona M. Muday

Devona M. Muday, 51, of Solon passed away on August 22, 2022, at UnityPoint Health –St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2918 Cedar Dr NE, Solon, IA 52333 on 10/1/2022. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.

Devona was born on June 24, 1971, in Pontiac, Michigan. She was employed by CBRE as a project analyst on the ERIX team, where she enjoyed the challenge of working within a global market. She was the daughter of Roger and Kathleen (McLaughlin) Dotson. She was united in marriage to Matthew Muday on November 16, 2018, in Iowa City. Devona and Matthew loved each other so very deeply, it was apparent to everyone that the honeymoon was never going to end. Devona had a very special place in her heart for her now grown stepchildren Hannah and Brandon. She loved celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with them and mother Cathleen, always making sure there was delicious food on the table and way too many presents under the tree. Devona was a wonderful cook, and it was always a treat to share her table over the holidays. Devona's love for her parents, Roger and Kathleen and stepmother Sandy was obvious as she called them frequently, letting them know how much she cared. She also had a younger brother Kenny whose bond was tight since childhood. They lived far apart so she  always looked forward to his visits and was always happy after having chatted on the phone. She also loved pets, especially her dog Bruce, who she enjoyed walking and playing fetch with several times a day.

Devona had many hobbies which included traveling, Coach purses  and reading. It was nothing for Devona to read a book in a day's time and start another. She also thoroughly enjoyed cooking. She perfected this art over the years to the delight of her friends and family. One of her very favorite things to do was to hit the couch in the evening, watch movies and chat with her husband. She enjoyed Family movies, comedies and really loved suspense thrillers.

Last, but not least was her love and commitment to her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved Jesus and she knew that he loved her. She had devotional time with her Lord every day. She could be heard in her office reading her bible, praying and giving thanks to God for the wonderful life he blessed her with. She also walked out her faith by always giving to the poor and needy. She would help total strangers if she felt led in her heart to do so. She loved watching her favorite  preachers on YouTube which included Joseph Prince and Andrew Wommack. Devona's laughter, sense of humor and always kind words will be sorely missed by her family, friends and all that knew her

Survivors include her husband Matthew of Solon, mother Kathleen Cannon of Anamosa, father Roger (Sandy) Dotson of Michigan, stepchildren Hannah Muday and Brandon Hooven of Fort Wayne, IN, stepbrother Kenny Vore, and a very special aunt Judy Coyle.
