Deanna Mattson

Deanna Mattson, 81, of Boone, formerly Deanna (Wilson) Wilcox, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, August 7, 2022.  A celebration of life will be scheduled Saturday, October 8th, 2022.

Deanna Mattson, daughter of Dean Wilson and Jeannette (Shaw) was born April 22, 1941 in Boone.  She grew up in Moingona and enjoyed a spirited childhood.   Deanna married Donald R Wilcox on August 16, 1958 and was mother to Brian Wilcox of Spring, TX and Gary Wilcox of Moingona.

In the mid to late 1970s she was best known as the lady from KWBQ radio selling advertising on the radio to every business in town.  If you owned a business, you could run but not hide from Deanna, she would find you and eventually you said yes.

After marrying Merritt Mattson in 1984, she moved around the country to Green Bay, WI; Houston, TX; St Louis, MO;  back to Green Bay, WI; and Des Moines before finally returning to Boone in 2008.  She and Merritt loved their church, the Boone library and studying the Bible from the gazebo each morning.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Wilson and Ray Wilson; and husbands Don Wilcox and Merritt Mattson.  Deanna is survived by brother Donny (Barb) Wilson of Boone; sister Donna (Mike) Sheibley of Dawson; sons Brian (Jaylyne) Wilcox, Gary (Robyn) Wilcox; step daughters, Becki (Herb) Saia of Newaygo, MI, Shawna Taylor of Charlotte, NC; step son Steven (Susan) Mattson of Lansdale, PA; grandchildren Bill (Amanda) Wilcox of Chaska, MN, Megan (Clayton) Sprecher of Madrid, Lindsey Wilcox, of Spring, TX,  Dr. Kevin Wilcox (Paulina), Fort Worth, TX, Sam (Sue) Saia of South Lyon, MI, Brian (Ashley) Saia of Osceola, IN, Megan and Brittney Gibson of Charlotte, NC, Daniel (Anthony) Scuotto of Oldsmar, FL;  and eleven great grandchildren.
