Carol Kapinski

Carol Anne Kapinski, 81, of Lost Nation, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on August 23, 2022.

Carol was born on December 7, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clarence Krebs and Leta (Wooldridge) Krebs. She married Gerald Kapinski, the light of her life, on August 22, 1959.

She spent many years working on the farm alongside her husband and was a loving mother.

Carol was an excellent seamstress and an avid quilter. She loved to bake and cook. She also enjoyed her local card club.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grand childrenmore than life itself.

Carol was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. In addition, she was active with the Lost Nation Scoop, the Lost Nation Boosters, and the Lost Nation Food Pantry.

Carol is survived by her husband, Gerald of Lost Nation, her three daughters: Elizabeth Kapinski-Cawiezell of Riverside, IA, Rebecca (Michael) Kapinski-Dietz of O’Fallon, IL, Angela (Robert) Kist of Lagrange Park, IL, and one son; Andrew (Shannon) Kapinski of Clarence, IA; 7 grandchildren: Erin Novak, Abigail Sojka, Whitney Weisinger, Nicholas Kapinski, Morgan Kapinski, Mikayla Kist, and Michael Kist; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law Georgie and Ronald Schroeder.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers William and Donald Krebs, and her sister, Gwendolyn Buster.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lost Nation Fire Company and EMT Service and the Jackson County Regional Hospital Ambulance Service for the exceptional care received.

A private family service was held on August 26th.

Public services will be held on September 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lost Nation. A luncheon will follow at the home of Nick and Erin Novak, 1658 140th Street, Lost Nation.

Memorials may be directed to the Carol Kapinski Memorial Fund c/o DeWitt Bank and Trust Co., P.O. Box 260, DeWitt, IA. 52742.

The memorials will benefit the Lost Nation Fire and EMTService and the Jackson County Regional Hospital Ambulance Service .
