Merrill Alvin Cornelison, Jr.

Merrill Alvin Cornelison, Jr. 69, of Lorimor, Iowa, passed away April 23, 2022. Graveside Services will be held May 14, 2022, at 11 AM, at the Lorimor Cemetery. Celebration of life will be following the service at 203 3rd Street, Lorimor, Iowa.

Merrill was born October 24, 1952, in Osceola, Iowa, the son of Merrill Alvin Cornelison, Sr. and Patricia Ann (Ripplinger) Cornelison. Merrill worked at Martin Marietta for almost 41 years in various positions. His hobbies included derbies, dirt track racing in his younger years and enjoyed spending time in his garage making projects with his wife, Sandy. Merrill never knew a stranger and loved his many friends and family.

Merrill married Sandra Jean (Allen) August 17, 1996. With this union came a joined family. His sons Merrill (Mac) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Josh (Jesse) Cornelison of Lorimor, Iowa; and his daughter Sheena (Mike) Cooley of Peru. His bonus daughters Kelly (Jimmy) Sims of Lockwood, Missouri; Christina (Rob) Crabb of Afton, Iowa; Dawn Wright of Winterset, Iowa; and Bobby Jo Stanley of New Virginia; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; 13 bonus grandchildren; and 3 bonus great grandchildren.

Merrill is preceded in death by his brothers, James Marvin Cornelison; Ed McKinney; Cloyd McKinney; and his parents Merrill and Patricia Cornelison; and niece Kimberly McKinney Groth. He is survived by his brother, Alan McKinney; sister Sandi (Wayne) Tucker both of Lorimor, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
