Leota Beryl Flack

Leota Beryl Flack, 95, of Marshalltown passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at UnityPoint Health Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Leota was born on May 9, 1926, in Reynolds, Illinois; the daughter of Ernest Doonan and Lillian (Schubert) Doonan. Leota graduated from Reynolds High School in Reynolds, Illinois. She retired from Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids after working there for many years.

Leota married the love of her life, Manford Wesley Flack, on April 25, 1954, in Rock Island, Illinois. The couple spent 63 wonderful years together. Together they raised five beautiful children, Linda, Michael, Dana, Thomas, and Ann. Besides spending time with her family, Leota enjoyed being with her many, many friends from church.

Leota is survived by her five loving children, Linda (Dale) Olson of Crystal, MN, Michael (Renee) Flack of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dana (John) Ireland of Clever, MO, Thomas Flack of Cedar Falls, IA, and Ann (Marty) Staton of Urbandale, IA; ten grandchildren, Tisha, Wesley, Melissa, Candace, Derek, Kerrie, Hanna, Tyler, Jared, and Jake; seven great grandchildren; and her sister, Elizabeth Kummetz of Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manford Wesley Flack; parents, Ernest and Lillian Doonan; siblings, Keith Doonan and Miriam Ford.

The family is planning a Celebration of Leota’s life on what would have been her 96th birthday on Monday, May 9, at 2:00 PM at Christ Episcopal Church, 220 40th St NE, Cedar Rapids, IA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to your charity of choice.
