Roger Allen Carter

Roger Allen Carter, 61 of Creston died on Monday, October 25. 2021 at the Hospice House in Creston, Iowa. There will be no public services at this time. Iowa Cremation is assisting with arrangements. No memorials are needed but if received will be put into a savings account for his beloved granddaughter Talia, who he called his “Button”.

Roger Allen Carter, son of Jacob Clayton Carter and Twila Joy (Feurt) Carter was born October 2nd, 1960 in Bethany, MO. Roger attended East Buchanan High School.

Roger moved to Des Moines and started driving for a concrete company in his late teens and early 20’s. After that he starting doing long haul truck driving and loved the open road. Roger drove for TMC for many years and then BTI where Roger worked up until his health caused him to stop driving in June 2018. During his time at BTI he received a Million Mile coat which he was immensely proud of.

Roger loved Nascar; he was a Hawkeye fan and like the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed building model cars and going to model car shows, which he would do in his spare time. He had a large collection of Diecast cars for his favorite driver, # 24, Jeff Gordon. Roger enjoyed having a few beers with his friends and looked forward to the Snow Family Reunion every Labor Day weekend down in McFall, MO where he was known to be the best gravy maker around. Camping at the Iowa State Fair was also one of the events he looked forward to every year.

Roger is survived by his daughter Chelsea Hockenberry of West Des Moines (husband Danny), granddaughter Talia Ann who is 15 months old. His ex-wife Kathy Carter of Cromwell. His mother Twila Carter of Creston, two brothers Rick Carter (wife Michelle) of Creston and Rob Carter of Creston. Two aunts Hazel Carter of San Antonio, Texas and Janis Hibbs( husband Cliff) of St. Joseph, MO; uncle Denny( wife Paula) of St. Joseph, MO; and a special cousin, Pam Collins (husband Mike) of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends that were like family to him. Roger is preceded in death by his father Jacob Carter, his grandparents Albert and Daisy Carter and Cleo and Myrtle Feurt and five uncles, Leland (wife Eloise), Leo (wife Velma), Donnie (wife Wonda) and Jack Carter and his brother Randy Carter.
