Jacquelyn Chubb
Jacquelyn Chubb 81, of Burlington, died at 8:05 PM Saturday, November 13,2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Born December 13,1939 in Los Angeles, California. She was the daughter of Jack Henry and Dorotha Jane Griffith Handrich. The family moved back to Burlington, Iowa. She married James Arnold Chubb and they later divorced.
She graduated at the Burlington High School in 1958 and graduated from Southeastern Community Collage for her AA Degree and Western Illinois University for her BA Degree.
Jacquelyn worked at Southeastern Community College as the Office Manager for the Dean of Instruction for about 25 years. She retired on December 12, 2001. After retirement, she volunteered at Hope Haven Hopefully Yours store and at GRMC at Heritage Medical Supply. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She served on the church council, member of the Worship and Music Committee, Book Club, and church choir. She was an Iowa Hawkeye football fan and Cubs baseball fan. She loved to travel, cook, read, do crossword puzzles, watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and play Bridge with her friends at the Senior Citizen Center and all her Bridge clubs she was in. She enjoyed being with family, friends, and cats.
Survivors include her daughter Julie Chubb of Burlington, Iowa and one son Jerry Chubb of Burlington, Iowa. One sister, Linda Garmoe and several nieces and nephews and two cats, Nicky, and Rudy.
Preceded in her death was an infant daughter Anita, her parents, grandparents and three sisters and two cats, Winnie and Rocky.
Memorials have been established for Bethany Lutheran Church and to Burlington Senior Center.
Upon her request, she has been cremated. Due to COVID, the holidays and the cold weather, A Celebration of Life service will be sometime in the spring at Bethany Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Hermansen presiding.
