Obituary for Carolyn Rae Hill

Carolyn Rae (White) Hill was born September 12, 1942, in Grinnell and died November 4, 2021, in Grinnell, IA. Carolyn graduated with the class of 1960 from Grinnell High School, and drove taxi, an experience that she loved very much, after graduating.  In July 1970 she married James Hill and after the birth of her children became a housewife, devoting her time and love to their care. Carolyn is preceded in death by James Hill, her beloved husband of 38 years, her parents Effie Tiedemann White and Raymond White, her dear cousins George and Esther Stevens, her parents-in-law, and her stepdaughter Charlotte Playle.

She is survived by her children, Raymond Hill of Newton, Ellen Hill of Grinnell, Jack (Heather) Hill of Lynnville, and her cherished grandchildren, Cody, Cade, Kaylee, Rick Jr., Zena, and Ozzy, many great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Carolyn also leaves behind an extended family who will miss her greatly, including her cousins, Susanne (Gary) Berkland, Kristine (Rick) Burch, Karin Berkland (and family), Mara (Dave) Berkland, Daniel Burch, and her brother Ron (Susan) white.
