Dale Duane Carnes Sr., 82, of Ankeny, Iowa died Tuesday, June 22 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
He was born May 17,1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. The son of LeLand and Fern (Weeks) Carnes. He married Lyla Kay Savage on May 1, 1956, in Des Moines. She died in August of 2005.
Dale attended Lincoln High in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for Mercy Capitol Hospital as an engineer in heating and cooling before retiring. Dale enjoyed riding motorcycles.
He is survived by two sons, Shane Carnes of Niederwald, Texas and Dale Carnes Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Kim Frost of Des Moines, Iowa and Jeanie Sommars of Ankeny, Iowa; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Lyla Kay Carnes, and a son, Beryle Frank Carnes.
