Floyd Weaver Smith

Floyd Weaver Smith, 88, of Lorimor passed away July 26, 2021, at Hospice House in Creston, Iowa.

Floyd was born on April 10, 1933, in Anthony, Kansas. He attended country school in Oklahoma until the age of 10 when the family relocated to Iowa where he attended country school, and later Macksburg. After graduating he joined the Army, where he was stationed in Korea. Upon returning home he married Margaret Kay Loehr and started farming on the family farm. Floyd and Margaret were married for 61 years and had one daughter, Connie Waltz. Floyd enjoyed farming and raising cattle for many years. He loved planting his summer gardens and growing an abundance of tomatoes. One of the most important things to Floyd was family, especially his 3 great grandsons and in recent years he enjoyed being able to attend their activities and sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 13 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife Margaret; daughter Connie (Ken) Waltz; two granddaughters Shawna (Klint) Johnston and Cheyenne (Nick) Johnston; and three great-grandsons Jack, Ryley, and Cooper.

No service is planned at this time as per Floyd’s wishes.

Memorials can be directed to the family and will be forwarded to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
