Janice Voss Camp

Janice Voss Camp, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2021. She will be interred in a private family service at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery. A public celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Janice, the daughter of Glenn and Pauline (Park) Voss, was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 2, 1934. Her father was the Polk County Engineer for several years, and the family lived on a small acreage located on Hickman near 86th Street. Janice graduated from Valley High School in 1952. She attended both Drake University and University of Denver Community College, earning a certificate in Law of Secretaries. She resided in Colorado for 6 years before returning home to Iowa where she worked in a local bank and married Lawrence D. Camp on June 20, 1964. They lived and raised their two children in Urbandale, Iowa.

Janice, known as “Jan” to all her friends, was an active member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and in the nursery. She was a member of the PEO Sisterhood, the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, and the American Business Women’s Association. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother, whose proudest achievement was helping her children grow, learn and become successful adults. In later years, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and wonderful grandchildren.

Jan is survived by her son, Randy (Carol) Camp of Newton; daughter, Cathy (Joe) Blair of Urbandale; grandchildren, Dylan, Katelyn and Natalie Camp, Alyssa and Michael Giampolo, and Jackson Blair; brother, Gerald (Kippy) Voss; sister, Virginia Ellis; brother-in-law, Ken Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; her parents; a brother, Glenn (in childhood); and a sister, Nancy Clark. Memorials may be made to St. Croix Hospice.
