Dorothy Mae Jeffreys

Dorothy Mae Kellogg was born February 6, 1926 to John Roy Kellogg and Mary Lillian Walker Kellogg in Bolckow, Missouri, and left this life on August 27, 2021.  Her family moved to Woodburn, Iowa, in 1930 when she was four years of age.  Dorothy received her education through 12th grade in the Woodburn School.

In 1953 she married Lowell Keith Davenport and was blessed with two daughters Annie Laurie and Jennifer Lynne.  As a single mother she worked fifteen years as a seamstress at Snowdon’s Lingerie Factory in Osceola.  Dorothy married Andrew William Jeffreys in 1967.  For 27 years she volunteered as manager of the Clarke County Hospital Gift Shop and managed the Holiday Community Craft Fair for 25 years.  She enjoyed volunteering at the Osceola Methodist Church and Clarke Elementary School.  Dorothy served as Past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and Past President of Chapter K, P.E.O.   Membership in Research Club and Country Club Bridge were important.  She loved to sew making many crafts and clothing.  Family trips in the United States and many trips around the world were enjoyed with Andy.  She was very proud of and devoted to her family and community.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jennifer Lynne, husband Andy, brother and sister-in-law Roy and Delcine Kellogg, brother and sister-in-law Forrest and Mary Eilene Kellogg, sister and bother-in-law Wilma Jane and Glenn Davenport, brother-in-law Jack Jeffreys, niece Sally Kellogg, and nephews Don Davenport and Keith Kellogg.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Annie Laurie Points and husband Dale, grandson Jason Jones and wife Kimberly, granddaughter Jacalyn Gibbons and husband Jack.  Five great grandchildren Chance and Blake Gibbons; and Madelyn, Samson and Josephine Jones.  Nephews Glenn Davenport (Lynnette) and family, Harlan Davenport (Katherine) and family.  Special friends Kyesoon Kim and family, Yeesang Choi (Kwangson) and family as well as many other friends and family.

Due to increasing COVID-19 cases only a graveside service will be held at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola on September 18, 2021 at 10:30 a.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Clarke County Hospital or the United Methodist Church.
