Betty L Gill, 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born in St. Charles, Iowa on May 13, 1929, the daughter of Eugene and Lois Husted. Per her wishes, Betty will be cremated with a private celebration of life to be held at a later date.
Betty married John T Gill on November 15, 1975, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together over their 30-year marriage they would live in St. Louis, MO; Las Cruces, NM; Long Beach, CA; San Maguel, CA; and Mountain Home, AR. John preceded her in death in 2005. Betty would later move back to Cedar Rapids to be closer to her family.
Betty enjoyed many golf buddies, and the weekend golf getaways most times near a casino, the daily crosswords, and reading. She also loved desserts, mostly pie and Ice Cream. She was known for her quick wit and soft heart.
Betty is survived by her three daughters; Lucinda DeMaria-Rieder of Portland, Maine; Pam DeMaria and Toni (Steve) Mrkvicka all of Cedar Rapids, IA; a son, Blake (Barb) DeMaria of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother-in-law, John Dutcher; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Gill; parents, Eugene and Lois Husted; brother, Bill Husted; sisters, Marjorie Husted, Elaine Beverlin, Katherine Dutcher, and Carol Van Fleet; sister-in-law, Catherine Husted; brother-in-law’s, Jim Beverlin, and Lyle Van Fleet; a son, Barry DeMaria; granddaughter, Melissa DeMaria; and son-in-law, Morgan Rieder.
