Forrest R. Mykleby
Forrest was in my First Lutheran Monday golf group with Walley Sundet. Our time with Forrest was one of the top highlights of our week. We also had breakfast every other Wednesday morning at Sophia's across from Coe College. Walley and I would team up and and really give it to him about his money and all the ladies that would show up at his door with casseroles. When Walley could no longer leave the house breakfast continued and Larry Blum joined us. Near the end, my wife, Joyce, and I would met him a Sophia's. Forrest was a DEAR FREIND and will be truly missed.
I worked with Mr. Mykleby from 1979 - 1981 at Farmstead. He was a true gentleman and inspiring leader. He and his wife were, years later, my Mother’s neighbor on Red Fox Road. My sincere condolences to his family. He sounds like he was as wonderful a Dad as boss and neighbor.
Forrest was a great neighbor and lived on Red Fox Rd for more than 50 years. There was a time when our side of the street had old electrical transformers and the power went out frequently. His side of the street had power, though. Forrest was one who stretched an extension cord across the road so neighbors could keep refrigerators going. On my way to work during those times I saw him walking across the street with a pot of coffee to share with neighbors who were missing their morning boost. His thoughtfulness and friendliness over the years were a boost, too. A good man. A good neighbor. He will be missed.
