Kathleen Sue Titus
Kathleen Sue Titus, of West Burlington, Iowa gained her angel wings on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa while surrounded by her children.
Kathy was born on January 27, 1955 in Grinnell, Iowa to Bob and Miriam (Elmore) Francis. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1973. She married Craig Titus on September 26, 1992.
Kathy worked as a bank teller at F&M Bank and Trust for twenty years before starting her second career with the Des Moines County Auditor’s Office as a Payroll Coordinator/Deputy. Whether she was banking or doing payroll, it was helping others that she found most fulfilling and enjoyable in her work. She embraced each day as an opportunity to care selflessly and spread kindness to everyone she met, always offering her memorable and contagious smile that seemed to light up the world.
Above all, Kathy loved spending time with her grandbabies. Whether it was baking sweets, doing crafts, playing games, coloring, solving puzzles, reading books or even just tickling and making funny faces, Kathy knew just how to make the time she spent with each and every one of her grandbabies special and memorable. She also enjoyed birdwatching and gardening. Every spring she would spend hours planting hundreds of flowers that bloomed into beautiful flower beds worthy of a magazine cover.
Kathy especially enjoyed the holidays, making her home cozy and inviting for family gatherings. She was an expert at spreading Christmas spirit, decorating her house inside and out and lighting up the night sky with all of her beautiful decorations. Her television was locked on the Hallmark Channel with heartwarming Christmas movies playing on an endless loop. Kathy was also a member of First United Church of Christ and faithfully cleaned the church every week as her way of giving back to the Church that meant so much to her.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Craig Titus. She is survived by her parents; three brothers: Dannie (Joyce) Francis, Marc Francis, and Kevin Francis; five children: Tom (Tricia) Patterson, Ben (Megan) Patterson, Kim (Nick) LaFauce, Mike Menke, and Caleb (Whitney) Titus; and two stepchildren: Jared Murphy and Jeannetta Titus. Kathy was also blessed to have thirteen grandchildren: Logan, Drew, Marissa, Jaxon, Lucas, Claire, Hadley, Anabelle, Sam, Leo, Cameron, Molly, and Sawyer. She also had many wonderful aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her beloved goldendoodle, Gabby.
A private service will be held with immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for all family and friends that knew and loved Kathy.
