Christine Mary Baade, 84, formerly of Luana, died July 31, 2020 at the Good Samaritan Society, West Union. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 15 at 1:30pm at the St. John Lutheran cemetery, Luana with Lay Pastor Jeremy Wolfe presiding. Lunch will follow at the home of Matt & Emily Baade.

Christine, the daughter of Werner and Melvina (Nesvik) Meyer, was born March 24, 1936 near Ossian, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Ossian. Chris attended country school near her home, and after the family moved to Ossian, attended the Ossian Public School where she graduated in 1955.

Christine married Donald John Baade June 4, 1955. They were blessed with three children: Michelle, Lonnie, and Arlin.
Chris was a farm wife, devoted mother, cooked at the Heidelberg, and later was a lunch lady at the MFL Mar Mac Schools for 18 years.

Chris enjoyed decorative painting, quilting, watching birds, gardening, cooking, playing cards and dice, working jigsaw puzzles and, most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons Lonnie (Vicky) of Luana and Arlin (Elaine Hanson) of West Union, son-in-law, Larry Krugger (Lola Brincks) of Luana, grandchildren: Travis (Shanda) Spiker, Lance Spiker, Matt (Emily) Baade, Tina (Mark) Gallion, great- grandsons Bryant (Liliana), Carson, Dawson, and Ashton Spiker, great-great grandson Austin, and baby Spiker due in October, as well as many grandchildren-of-the-heart. Also, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: JoAnn Meyer, Anita Schlitter, Lester (Janet) Baade, and Verla (Bill) Walker, along with many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Don on July 14, 2020, her parents, daughter, Michelle, granddaughter, Victoria, brother, Jerome Meyer and brother-in-law Eugene Schlitter.

The family would like to thank the Good Samaritan Society, West Union, DaVita Dialysis, Earl Transit, and Healthy Living Home Care for their kind and compassionate care.
