Helene Lammers

Helene was born to Lester & Gladys Kottke on their family farm near Osterdock, Iowa.  She joined an older sister Donna.  Helene graduated from Guttenberg High School in 1955.

Helene worked for many years as a hot lunch cook for Guttenberg Community School.  She enjoyed serving lunches daily to the students and teachers but made it impossible for her own children to get away with any shenanigans at school.  After retirement she did a lot of traveling with her companion Cletus Hemmer, she loved to travel. She enjoyed having company and always had cake or her special corn flake bars to share with her guests.  Her family was her most precious possession, and her friends made her life complete.

Helene passed away at the Guttenberg Care Center.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Rod (Meg) Lammers & Todd (Julia) Lammers; eight grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Garber, Becky Pierce, Jessie (Travis) Ehlinger, Drew (Dana) Lammers, Abenet Lammers, Cody (Laura) Hill, Abi (Brody) Schnieder, Matt (Jayme) Lammers;
15 great grandchildren; two nieces Sandy (Paul) Lorentzen, & their children, Pam (Matt) Barta & their children.

Helene was preceded in death by her parents, Lester & Gladys Kottke; sister and brother-in-law, Donna & Bill Buechel; daughter-in-law, Lisa Lammers; nephew, Scott Buechel; and special friend Cletus Hemmer.

Due to Covid-19 arrangements will be at a later date.  Memorial contributions in Helene's memory may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, Iowa.
