Dewey H. Wheeler

Dewey H. Wheeler passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, December 20, 2020.  He was 79 years of age.  Dewey was a retired electrician from Iowa Manufacturing of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dewey was born on September 3, 1941, in Bluffton, Indiana.  Dewey is the loving son of the late Herbert Grayson Wheeler and the late Dorothy Irene Doonan.

Dewey was the beloved husband of Earline (Herman) Wheeler.  He was the devoted father of Mark Wheeler of Belle Plaine, (Jon) Karmin Herman of Lenexa, Kansas, (Randy) Bonnie Sherwood of Van Horne, Iowa.  The cherished grandfather of Michael (Caysee) Wheeler of Des Moines, Chelsea (Chris) Medved of Olathe, Kansas, Matthew (Kelsey) Herman of Salina, Kansas, Austin Sherwood of Keystone, Iowa, Stephanie Sherwood of Van Horne, Iowa and loving great grandfather of Cadence and Macey Wheeler of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Bryde Wheeler of Des  Moines, Iowa, Abbigail Wheeler of Ssninel, Florida, Lincoln, Adalyn and Jaxson Medved of Olathe, Kansas and Wyatt Herman and Daisy Herman (making her debut in 2021) of Salina, Kansas.  Dewey was the dear brother of the late Carl (Marylou) Wheeler of Gladbrook, Iowa and the late Patricia (Dick) Roggentien of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Julia LaPete of Jacksonville, Florida.  Dewey is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Dewey’s hobbies were spending time with his family, gardening, canning, feeding, and watching the birds and squirrels, camping, mushroom hunting and working in his garage.  He was one of the hardest working men both at work and home and remodeled his entire home with his loving wife by his side.  His grandkids loved to take scooter and mower rides with grandpa.  Dewey had a great sense of humor and was known for a few antics with his co-workers.  He was very well respected by all who knew him with a very kind hearted soul.
