Michael R. Spencer 57, of Swisher died Saturday August 29, 2020 at the Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha. Per Michael’s wishes, there will be no services. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Tracy, two sons, Daniel (Amanda) of Marion and Eric of Cedar Rapids, two daughter Sarah (Matthew Wallace) Spencer of Cedar Rapids, and Crystal Hurt of Indiana; a sister Kimberly (Russell) Manning; and a brother Brian (Mary) all of Kentucky. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Michael was a born on December 8, 1962 in London, Kentucky the son of Willie and Maxine (Sizemore) Spencer. He graduated from the Lutheran University in California. He was an engineer at Rockwell-Collins for over 13 years. Among the many projects he was involved with was working on the Mars Rover in conjunction with NASA.
Michael enjoyed flying and proudly served in the Navy.
He will forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in Michael’s name.
