I remember Vern coming to school and teaching us DARE and the importance of it. It made such an impact on me I've never forgotten about it to this day. I remember always respecting him in a cool way. He put a healthy knowledge in me, and was a big reason why I've never touched any drug. Julie I remember working at Fareway with you, you were always so kind and such a wonderful spirit. I'm sure this has been a rough couple of years for you. Very sorry to hear this and pray blessings on your and your family and send love.

Been was my favorite Cop. He bought my motorcycle, then refused to sell it back. He fought an invisible battle, that he couldn't win. Rest in Peace.

Vern was our school's DARE officer for many years! I taught in Lisbon, Iowa. We loved having Vern. He was always so pleasant, and he was very funny! We looked forward to him teaching DARE every year!
