Jeffrey William Carroll

Jeffrey William Carroll, age 66, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.  He was born on April 10, 1953 in Denver, Colorado to Calvin and Laila (Gabriel) Carroll.  Jeff’s family moved to the Des Moines metro area when he was a young boy.  He grew up in West Des Moines and graduated from Valley High School.  After high school, Jeff attended Drake University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.  He went on to earn his CPA credentials and worked as an accountant throughout his professional life.

Jeff’s life was enriched by his two sons who were always a great source of pride and joy for him.  He shared many memorable moments with them throughout his life.  He was involved with them in the Boy Scouts of America and greatly enjoyed attending their school, sports, and music functions.  Among Jeff’s favorite things in life were gardening, baseball - especially the Iowa Cubs, football, NASCAR racing, genealogy, and the Iowa State Fair.  One of the things that Jeff enjoyed most of all, however, was grilling/cooking for a big family gathering.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jeff is survived by his two sons, Jason (Kate) Carroll and Scott (Katherine) Carroll.  He was preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Laila (Gabriel) Carroll and his sister Janet Carroll.

Per Jeff’s wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no funeral service.  His family plans to organize a memorial celebration to be held on a later date.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
