Dennis L. Hansen Sr.

Dennis L. Hansen Sr., 83 of Anamosa died Tuesday April 7, 2020 at the Jones Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen, a daughter Darcy Hansen and a son Dennis Jr., his twin sister Gale Luse all of Cedar Rapids, and a step-daughter Dianne Eddy of Anamosa. He is also survived by four grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one on the way; nieces, nephews and neighbors Brian and Jill Darrow and their children who Dennis considered grandchildren; Alissa, Ethan, and Ashton He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-son Michael.

Dennis was born on July 11, 1936 in Jones County the son of Carl and Catherine (Clemmons) Hansen and graduated from Lisbon High School. He married Colleen Pitcher, they were later divorced. He later married Kathleen S. Crawford on April 20, 1985 in Anamosa.

Dennis worked at the Cedar Rapids Post Office for several years and later retired as the Postmaster at Anamosa after many years of service. He was also the former mayor and city council member in Anamosa.

Dennis was a member of the Starlighters, Rhythm of Life, the American Legion as well as proudly serving the Air Force. He enjoyed collecting stamps, coins, playing Santa Claus watching the Hawkeyes and NASCAR.

Dennis will be forever be remembered as a wonderful and caring husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial donations may be given to Rhythm of Life.
