Dawn Hanson Heusinkveld
K and J -- This took me way down Memory Lane -- to when your Mom whistled when it was time for you to come in from playing in the neighborhood. I can hear it now -- quite unforgettable. I think she used it for the dogs too -- Shadow and Brog -- the Greatest Danes ever. I can see her brushing that incredible long hair outdoors where the sun and wind would help it dry. And many years later, she would come in to Barnes & Noble and tell me what you two were doing. She was always warm and smiling and a pleasure to talk to. How lucky you are to have had her for so long.
Dawn was a wonderful neighbor for many years. We shared our love of birds, flowers and books on many occasions. My condolences to all her family and friends.
My thoughts are with you all. Peace.
My friendship with Dawn started when I was her Letter Carrier, delivering her books. Later we traded books, shared the love of plants, and of garage sales! We frequently had lunch or supper at favorite restaurants. We met for her birthday lunch at Marion's Maidrite, I don't know how many years. My daughter, sister and oldest granddaughter joined me in adopting her. She was one of my best friends. I was shocked when I realized she was nearly my mom's age because she just acted so much younger!! I have many happy memories of Dawn. And I have a start of her fern-leafed peony. It's ready to bloom and will ALWAYS remind me of her. You all have my sympathy. I share your loss.
K, J, Diane, Carol and all, many many fond memories of Dawn starting at Adel St,, as I was growing up , she was the kindest person , always welcoming to her home, and Art also. They both spent the time, making sure you had a good time as K and Js friends. I was fortunate to see her over the years here and there, with great conversations....., my thoughts are w/ you all. Peace.....Beth
