Carole Kay Reeves

Carole Kay Reeves passed away April 12, 2020 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Carole was born July 8, 1943 in Milton, IA.  She lived in Des Moines for many years before moving to Jamaica, IA and finally to Perry, IA.   Carole retired from Qwest after 30+ years. Not one to burn daylight, she started a part time job a few days after retirement trying her hand at sewing machine repair and finally becoming the front desk clerk at the local motel, a job that brought many friendships over the years.

Carole was known for her independence, generosity, kindness, and creativity. She carried her cross-stitch with her wherever she went and spent hours teaching herself to quilt. She donated many quilts and other handmade items to various organizations over the years.  She enjoyed time with her friends and family.  There were many memorable road trips enjoyed with her sisters filled with shopping, more shopping and laughter wherever they went.  But her best days were the ones she spent enjoying her grandchildren, with crafts, science experiments, movies, outings for ice cream and special snacks always stocked and ready for their arrival, no matter that they were grown well past the age of juice boxes.

She leaves behind Brian Gobeli (Sharon) of Chatsworth, CA (Nick, Cheynne, Brian II),  Joni Reeves of Perry, IA,  Bill Reeves (Dawn) of Norwalk, IA (Logan, Erin, Jake, Luke, Abby and Ben) along with 5 great-grandchildren (Rafe, Rory, Raiden, Scarlett and June.)  She is also survived by brothers Phil Younker, Donnie Younker (Shirley), Bruce Younker (LuAnn), Sisters Mina Robertson and Martha Sullivan along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.   She was preceded in death by her husband William Reeves, parents Cleo and Esther Younker, Brothers Jerry and Steve Younker.

Special thanks to Dr. Freeman, Carissa Thompson, A.P.P and Angie for giving us an extra 4 years with mom. As much as she hated cancer, she came to love the three of you.  Thank you for taking such good care of her through her journey.  And to Every Step Hospice for helping her through her final days at home and at Kavanagh house.

There are no services planned.  Donations can be made to Every Step Hospice.
