Paul Frederick Stolte

Paul Frederick Stolte, Jr., age 75, passed away October 8, 2019, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines.

Paul was born January 13, 1944, in Boone, IA, to Paul Stolte, Sr., and Francis Irene Stolte (Bass). He was the 5th of their 6 children. On December 31, 1963, he was united in marriage to Sandra Peterson at the Cavalry United Methodist Church in Stratford, IA. They added four sons to their union; Shane (deceased), Shawn, Kory, and Jason.

Paul graduated from Stratford High School in 1962. He worked for Goodrich 38 years prior to his retirement in 2005. He and Sandy lived on a small farm in Boone County for many years and grew delicious strawberries and raspberries which were enjoyed by all. He was also famous for giving his seven grandchildren rides on his beloved John Deere garden tractor.

The highlight of Paul’s life is easily summed by his love for family, especially his grandchildren. Paul was very active in youth baseball in Boone, including coaching and leadership roles with Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs. Paul was also an organ donor and this gift has improved countless lives.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Shawn (Nancy) Stolte, Kory (Kristin) Stolte, and Jason (Teri) Stolte; grandchildren, Annie, Will, & Sarah Stolte; Sam & Emma Stolte; Beth & Allie Stolte; brothers, Norm (Donna) Stolte & Chuck (Edna) Stolte; and sisters, Peggy Scott & Pat (Ron) Frette. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marvaline Anderson and Sharon (David) Fruechtenicht. Paul was preceded in death by his son, Shane Stolte; parents, Paul and Irene Stolte; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin & Pauline Peterson; sister and brother-in-law, Betty & Rich Hesseltine; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Karen and Gene Peterson; sister-in-law, Donna Stolte (Ades); and brother-in-laws, Warren Scott and Pete Anderson.

The family may be greeted at Trinity Lutheran Church (Boone) on Saturday, October 26, at 1:00 with a Celebration of Life at 1:30. A brief reception at the church will follow the service. Per Paul’s wishes, he gave the gift of life to many through organ, eye, and tissue donation prior to his cremation. In lieu of flowers please hug your family and consider a donation to Trinity Lutheran Church (Boone) or Boone County Humane Society.
