Vernon Slessor (70) of Plainfield, Iowa passed away on May 31, 2019.

Services will be held at the home of Karen and Vernon Slessor 1176 160th Street Plainfield, Iowa 50666 Saturday June 8, 2019 at 12:00 noon. A light lunch will be served first with the services to follow.

Vernon Ralph Slessor was born September 4, 1948 to Ralph and Bette (Rooney) Slessor in Waterloo, Iowa. He lived and grew up on a farm in Hudson IA.  He then proudly served his country in the United States Army in the security agency division. He soon Married Karen Troudt on August 28, 1976 in Waterloo. He moved from Hudson IA to his dream property in Plainfield. He built his entire home from the run-down property with his own hands. Soon after building his home retired from John Deere.

He had many past times, High powered rifle shooting, hunting and fishing, building Motorcycles and boats for his grandkids to enjoy. Playing with his 8 grandchildren making them wooden guns and swords and animal cages. He was involved in many charities like Ride to the Wall, African children sponsorships, and helping anyone that needed help behind the scenes. Motorcycles were an extremally large love of his life. He touched the lives of so many.

He never met a stranger. He loved to talk and joke around with his very close group of friends.

Those left to honor Vernon’s memory are his wife Karen, his 3 children Shelly Jennifer, and Alea Slessor; 10 grandchildren Oliver, Abbigail, Emmeline, Elijah, Isaiah, Alexandria, Joeseph, William, >>>>>,>>>>>; 2 Sisters Sheila (Ronald Day), Tina Trinka, One Brother Gerald Slessor, and many nieces and nephews as well and many more who were not related but knew Vernon as Grandpa, and his many friends.

He was Preceded in death by his parents and 3 grandchildren; Thomas Ralph Hancock, and 2 babies who passed at birth. 
Memorials donations can be made to the family for distribution to the various charities Vernon supported.
